I decided to make magnesium butter, just a small batch at first, to test out what it could do. I gave some to my husband, kept a little for myself and gave some to my mother. We all had issues with pain that we wanted to try it on. Mine was a shoulder injury that I kept re-injuring from lifting our dog with mobility issues. I put it on my shoulder while it was hurting and felt instant relief. I really couldn't believe it. I thought there's just no way this is helping so much so fast, but it was. Surprisingly, both my other testers reported the same thing. So I was ready to make a bigger batch and give samples out to people to see if it would help them. I'm sure it depends on the type of pain.. ours was all muscle related. There are many other reported benefits from topical magnesium so you may want to try it for another reason.
I am not making any medical claims for this product. Only sharing what others have reported.

These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA:

Widespread acknowledgment of the depletion of magnesium in American diets has made it one of the most important nutrients to supplement in the diet.
With poor health on the rise, and dietary magnesium levels at an all time low, scientists have begun to turn to magnesium as the possible “missing link” behind several of today’s most troubling illnesses.

What is transdermal magnesium good for?

It can relieve sore muscles and joints, reducing pain related to functional magnesium deficiency and replenishing depleted soft tissue. Magnesium enables more relaxed muscles and stronger connective tissue. It is a powerful anti-stress remedy that assists to help calm nerves, improve sleep and reduce systemic bodily stress.

Sleep- Transdermal magnesium helps this process by regulating the neurotransmitters and ultimately calming your nervous system in readiness for sleep. Apply to the soles of the feet for this use.

When applied to the skin, magnesium absorbs into your body, bypassing the digestive system and heading straight for your bloodstream and cells. Topical application can be more effective and more gentle than using oral Magnesium supplements because it doesn't pass through the digestive tract so there's no concern about GI upset.

After one week of regular magnesium supplementation, individuals may experience benefits such as improved energy levels, reduced muscle cramps, better sleep quality, and reduced anxiety. Myself, husband and mother noticed relief in muscle pain after just one use.

Benefits reported by those who use transdermal applications of magnesium relate specifically to its therapeutic application on the skin and its direct absorption into the cells:
Increased sleep
Reduced muscle aches, pains, cramping and spasms
Healthy skin and reduced outbreaks of eczema and psoriasis
Better relaxation and stress management
Increased energy levels and improved moods
Increased athletic performance

If you should experience stinging or burning when trying topical magnesium, it means you are deficient and are experiencing an urgency reaction, meaning the blood vessels are opening quickly to absorb the magnesium. This creates friction under the skin and a mildly uncomfortable feeling. The butter can be diluted with coconut oil until it can be tolerated at full strength.

Can you have too much transdermal magnesium?
No, overdosing is not possible because your body will excrete any excess of magnesium. However, if you suffer from severe kidney function disorders, cardiac conduction disorders (e.g., AV block), or myasthenia gravis (a rare muscle disease), you should first consult a doctor before using magnesium oil or butter
